HK TEAM IS WSBE24 GOLD SPONSOR 

Hong Kong (HK) is known for its progressive and innovative programs to support a sustainable development agenda in the territory and surrounding regions. HK academics and experts, professional and industry bodies and policy makers have been strong contributors to the SBE Conference series since the 2000s. The HK team was recognised with the Best Country SBE Status Report award in the World SB08 in Melbourne and was the successful host and organiser of the 2017 World Sustainable Built Environment (WSBE 2017). 

The HK team – comprising of the Construction Industry Council (CIC) and Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) – have come together again to support in a very significant way WSBE24 as a top-level Gold Sponsor! 

Amongst other things, we will hear from the HK Secretary for Development and the respective Chairs of CIC and HKGBC about HK’s Net-Zero Journey in a Plenary Keynote Session. Various achievements and initiatives will be further discussed in Roundtable Sessions, and some of the latest scientific/technical papers from HK will also be presented. 

The Hong Kong Report on the State of Sustainable Built Environment 2024 will be published to illustrate the excellence of Hong Kong’s collaborative efforts amongst government, industry and community in driving for a sustainable built environment in a high-rise high-density context.

WSBE24 at the Buildings and Climate Global Forum in Paris, March 2024 

WSBE24 Co-chair Prof Thomas Lützkendorf attended and participated in the discussions during the Buildings and Climate Global Forum in Paris in March 2024. Together with Prof Greg Foliente, they reflected on the Forum’s proceedings and the Ministers’ Declaration de Chaillot and noted that many of the key themes there will be further discussed in WSBE24 amongst stakeholders through keynote talks, roundtable discussions and presentations in various sessions. IEA EBC Annex 72 and Annex 89 to support Net-Zero Whole-Life Carbon Buildings to feature  

Towards Paris-compatible whole-life building sector decarbonisation, WSBE24 will feature in various sessions the completed and ongoing work of IEA EBC Annex 72 and Annex 89 to cover: (1) frameworks, methods and data;(2) pathways, instruments and measures; and (3) country and practice case applications.
